Instructions

In a mixing bowl, gently knead together 1 pound ground beef, 1 large egg, and 1 1/2 tablespoons dry ranch seasoning Don't overwork the meat.

Form into 4 patties about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Press your thumb down on the middle to give it a slight indent.

Heat a large heavy skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Or, heat an outdoor grill to medium-high heat (400-450 degrees F). Make sure the grate is well oiled so the meat doesn't stick.

Cook burgers for about 5 minutes per side for medium, 6 to 7 minutes per side for medium-well, and about 8 minutes per side for well-done. Ground beef in the United States needs to be cooked to an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit.

You can remove them from the grill or pan at 140 degrees and let rest for 5 minutes topped with 4 slices colby jack cheese. They will continue to rise in temperature by about 5 degrees once removed from the heat. Let the cheese melt while you prepare your toppings.

Assemble burgers on 4 hamburger buns with 4 large lettuce leaves, thinly sliced red onion, sliced tomato, dill pickle slices, and the condiments of your choice.
