BBQ Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

2 tablespoons butter (or oil)
cup sweet onion (grated)
¼ cup celery (grated)
¼ cup carrot (grated)
1 to 2 jalapeño peppers (or serrano peppers, finely minced)
¼ cup lemon juice
2 cans tomato sauce
2 tablespoons sherry vinegar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon sea salt
¼ teaspoon cumin
3 tablespoons molasses
¾ cup brown sugar (or keto sweetener of your choice)
½ to 1 teaspoon liquid smoke (optional)

Instructions

Grate the onion, carrot, celery, and jalapeño.

Add the butter to a saucepan over medium-high heat. Once the butter is heated add the vegetables and sauté until the vegetables are very soft.

Add the remaining ingredients to the saucepan and bring everything to a boil.

Simmer on low for 30 to 45 minutes.
