Instructions

For the Dough

In the bowl of a stand mixer, whisk together 3/4 cup warm water, 1 tablespoon granulated sugar, and 1 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast until combined.

Add 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour and 1/2 teaspoon saltand use the dough hook to mix on medium speed until the dough comes together. Add more flour as necessary to achieve a soft dough that is tacky, but doesn't stick to your hands. Alternatively, you can mix the dough and knead it by hand.

Transfer the dough to a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let it rise until double in size, about 1 hour.

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured clean countertop and roll it into a 12-inch by 18-inch rectangle.

Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Spread a thin layer of 1/3 cup pizza sauce on the dough, leaving about a 1-inch border around the edges. Top with 1/2 pound sliced Italian cold cuts or pepperoni, then sprinkle with 1 to 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, and 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning.

Roll up the dough lengthwise, in the style of a cinnamon roll. Using a serrated knife, slice the roll into twelve 1 1/2-inch pieces and transfer to the parchment-lined baking sheet.

In a small bowl, stir 1/4 cup melted salted butter, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, and 1 teaspoon dried parsley until combined. Brush this mixture onto the tops of the rolls.

Bake the rolls in the preheated 400 degree oven for approximately 14 minutes, or until they're lightly browned on top.

Serve hot, with additional pizza sauce on the side if desired.
