Instructions

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add in 2 pounds ground beef and season with 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon black pepper, and 1 teaspoon garlic powder. Cook, breaking the beef into small pieces, until it starts to brown, about 79 minutes.

Push the cooked ground beef to the edges of the pan. Add 4 tablespoons salted butter to the center of the skillet, followed by the sliced onion and bell pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onion and pepper are softened and slightly browned, about 56 minutes.

Reduce the heat to medium-low. Cube 8 ounces cream cheese and add to the skillet. Fold the cream cheese into the beef mixture until fully melted and incorporated, creating a creamy sauce.

Turn off the heat. Spoon the beef mixture onto the buns, about 1/2 cup per sandwich, and top each with a slice of Provolone cheese. Serve immediately.

For best results, toast the buns before assembling.
