Instructions

For the Dough

In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine 1 cup warm milk, 1 tablespoon instant dry yeast, 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon salt, 3 tablespoons salted butter , and 1 large egg. Add 3 cups all-purpose flour gradually and use the dough hook to mix on low speed until the flour starts to incorporate.

Increase the mixer speed to medium and continue kneading, adding more flour 1 tablespoon at a time as needed, until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl. The dough should feel soft and tacky but not stick to your hands.

Transfer the dough to a lightly greased bowl. Cover with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.

Shaping and Baking

Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking pan. Punch down the risen dough and roll it out on a lightly floured surface into a 12x18-inch rectangle.

Spread 1 cup Nutella evenly over the dough, leaving a 1/2-inch border around the edges. In a small bowl, stir together 2 tablespoons brown sugar and 1 tablespoons ground cinnamon. Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the Nutella layer.

Starting with the long edge, tightly roll up the dough into a log. Use a serrated knife or dental floss to cut the log into 12 equal slices.

Arrange the slices in the prepared baking pan, leaving a bit of space between each roll. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 30 to 45 minutes, until puffy.

Preheat the oven to 325°F. Bake the rolls for 18 to 20 minutes, or until lightly golden on top.

Nutella Glaze

While the rolls are baking, prepare the Nutella glaze. In a medium bowl, use a hand mixer to beat 4 ounces cream cheese (softened) and 1/4 cup salted butter (softened) until smooth and fluffy. Add 1 cup Nutella and 1-1 1/2 cups powdered sugar, half a cup at a time, mixing until well combined until the desired consistency is reached.

Allow the rolls to cool slightly, about 5 minutes, then drizzle with the Nutella glaze while still warm or wait until completely cool for a frosted effect.
