Creamy Mushroom Gravy

Ingredients

2 tablespoons salted butter
8 ounces white or cremini mushrooms (sliced or diced)
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup vegetable broth (or chicken broth)
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

Melt 2 tablespoons salted butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.

Add 8 ounces of sliced or diced mushrooms to the saucepan and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are softened and browned.

Sprinkle 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour over the mushrooms and stir to coat them evenly. Cook for 1 minute to remove the raw flour taste.

Gradually pour in 1 cup vegetable broth, followed by 1 cup milk, stirring constantly to prevent lumps from forming.

Stir in 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce and increase the heat to high. Bring the gravy to a boil, then reduce the heat to low.

Simmer the gravy for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens to your desired consistency.

Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper, as desired.
