Blackberry Bourbon Smash

Ingredients
12 fresh blackberries
12 mint leaves (divided)
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
ice cubes
cup (3 ounces) bourbon whiskey
2-4 tablespoons simple syrup (adjust to taste)
2 ounces club soda (or sparkling water)
Optional garnish: sliced lime wedges

Instructions
Divide the blackberries and 6 mint leaves between two glasses. Add the lime juice and then use a muddler (or the handle of a wooden spoon) to crush the fruit.
Fill each glass with ice. Add the bourbon, simple syrup, and club soda. Stir each glass and garnish with a wedge of lime and the remaining mint.
